ST. JOHNSBURY — A 16-year-old is being held in the local prison after pleading not guilty to a charge of attempted second-degree murder. Ross Goldstein-Perdue, of Worcester, Mass., is accused of using a knife to slash the face of a person in Montpelier on Saturday. The arraignment for Goldstein-Perdue was held on Monday in Caledonia Superior Court even though the alleged incident occurred in Washington County. It will not be prosecuted in Washington County as Goldstein-Perdue’s mother works in the court system there. Goldstein-Perdue is accused of slashing the face and head of Ciecha Ravelin, 24, also known as Cameron Ravelin, outside the Walgreens Store on Main Street in Montpelier. The two did not know each other. Ravelin said the incident began when Ravelin accidentally bumped into the teen later identified by police as Goldstein-Perdue.
