A lockdown of Troy School was ordered last week after staff there were targeted with threatening statements, reported Vermont State Police. The person accused of making the statements was identified by VSP Sgt. Abigail Drew as Michael Liberta, 45, of Troy. Sgt. Drew reported that state police were alerted about 10 a.m. on Sept. 12. that Liberta had made threatening statements to members of the community. An investigation reportedly determined Liberta’s statements were directed at Troy School staff members and other members of the community. Law enforcement personnel went to the school and remained on the school grounds for the day. VSP located Liberta and cited him to appear in Orleans Superior Court on Oct. 15. The charge he’s facing is disturbing the peace by electronic communication.
