LYNDON — A state program could help redevelop the former Vermont Tap and Die property. The Neighborhood Development Area (NDA) Program might support efforts to convert the four-acre lot at 378 Main St. into affordable housing. State housing official Jacob Hemmerick told the Planning Commission on Wednesday that the downtown site may be a good candidate for NDA designation. The NDA program provides incentives for towns to create affordable housing in “central, walkable” places like the Main Street corridor. Housing projects with an NDA designation would be eligible for tax exemptions and streamlined permit approval, and would move to the front of the line for certain grant funding.
