BROWNINGTON, Vt. — A Derby man was seriously injured Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on Vermont Route 5A in Brownington, according to Vermont State Police. Authorities said they received multiple complaints around 9:06 p.m. of a vehicle traveling well below the speed limit and failing to maintain its lane. About 10 minutes later, a deputy from the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department located the vehicle parked in the northbound lane of Route 5A and discovered a man, later identified as 64-year-old Rickey Laprade, lying in the southbound lane.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Anthony Rice at Anthony.Rice@vermont.gov, call 802-334-8881, or submit an anonymous tip at vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.
