BURKE MOUNTAIN — A U.S. District Court judge on Thursday approved the sale of Burke Mountain to Bear Den Partners LLC. Michael Goldberg, the court-appointed receiver to manage the mountain and negotiate a satisfactory sale, found a buyer in the Bear Den partnership with a purchase price of $11.5 million. Court approval was necessary, and in a 165-page document imploring the judge to endorse the deal, Goldberg said the Bear Den plan is the right one. His arguments include the existence of long-held ties to the mountain by members of the Bear Den partnership, the expertise in year-round mountain operations of partnership members, and the financial capacity and commitment to invest in the mountain’s long-term success.
