LANCASTER — The Lancaster Select Board has voted to allow continued parking on Centennial Park for three recurring summer events — Rockin’ the Park concerts, the Lancaster Farmers Market, and weekly town band performances — despite concerns from town officials about potential damage to underground infrastructure and the park grounds. Town Manager Jessica Cyr said the initial decision to restrict parking stemmed from concerns over an aging sewer pipe beneath the park, which dates back to the 1970s. The sewer line serves much of downtown Lancaster, and damage could lead to major disruptions. Cyr also raised concerns about the town’s financial liability, particularly amid rising water and wastewater costs.
