LITTLETON — Senior Instructor Jeffrey Whitcomb, a veteran of New Hampshire’s fire service who trained hundreds of firefighters across the state, will be among 140 fallen firefighters honored during the 44th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend on May 3-4. Whitcomb, 53, of the New Hampshire Department of Safety’s Division of Fire Standards and Training and Emergency Medical Services, died on Oct. 2, 2021, after sustaining injuries while conducting live fire training in Concord. His name will be added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland, joining those who made what officials called “the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.”
