CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire authorities say a man killed his grandmother with hammer at an Easton residence this weekend. According to a statement from Attorney General John M. Formella and New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, the suspected murder occurred at 44 North Peak Drive in Easton, N.H. Emergency 911 dispatchers received a call for a medical emergency on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 11:41 a.m. Upon arriving at the residence, NH State Police entered and found Cynthia Lanchester, 76, laying on the ground, deceased, states the police statement. She appeared to be suffering from a blunt force trauma wound. State Police also encountered Ms. Lanchester’s grandson, Joshua Lanchester, 23. Police initially announced the incident early Saturday afternoon as a suspicious death and noted that there was no danger to the public. Late Saturday evening they announced the arrest of Joshua Lanchester. He was charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder, for recklessly causing the death of Cynthia Lanchester with a deadly weapon, a hammer.
