MANCHESTER, N.H. — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting New Hampshire as one of 11 states currently at a “very high” level of respiratory illness. Hospital visits for the flu, COVID-19 and RSV are on the rise nationally. New Hampshire health officials said the CDC’s rating is based on emergency department visits for acute respiratory infections, which can be from several causes. Despite the increase in hospital visits, health officials said the state’s health care system isn’t seeing any significant strain or impact. Dr. Benjamin Chan, the New Hampshire state epidemiologist, said there have been two flu-related deaths in the state this winter. One person was from Hillsborough County, and the other was from Belknap County.
