LANCASTER, N.H. — Weeks Memorial Library will be offering the Safe Sitter® course on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for students in grades 6-8. More than 775,000 graduates have completed the course in the United States and Canada. Graduates learn how to prevent injuries and handle emergencies when home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Injuries are the leading cause of death in children up to age five. Safe Sitter aims to reduce the number of avoidable and unintentional deaths among children being cared for by young teen caretakers. The program follows American Heart Association standards for rescue skills and instruction in first aid techniques from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
