LITTLETON — Prior to a public hearing and Select Board approval on Monday, April 28, town officials on Tuesday released a policy in first-draft form that regulates overnight camping on municipal property. The 8-page document specifies where one can camp, for how long, what campers must do to stay in compliance, and how to apply to the Select Board for approval and a permit. It follows the emergence of a more visible homeless population in Littleton and a town meeting petition approved by voters in 2024 that prohibits overnight camping unless authorized by the board. The petition arose from residents’ concerns about a homeless encampment on town property behind Littleton Water and Light.
