LYNDON — The Lyndon Electric Department is seeking its third consecutive rate increase as the publicly owned utility contends with rising power costs, storm damage expenses and major infrastructure investments. The utility filed a request with the Vermont Public Utility Commission on May 15 for an 11.74% rate hike, with the new rates proposed to take effect July 1. LED’s proposed increase reflected what other utilities statewide have already filed for in response to the same cost pressures.
