BURKE — Rain clouds parted just in time Monday for the groundbreaking of Burke’s long-delayed town garage, a milestone in a project years in the making. The new 11,100-square-foot facility will replace the town’s aging 68-year-old garage, which suffers from roof leaks, mold, poor ventilation and drainage issues. It also lacks adequate restrooms and break room space. With only four vehicle bays, much of the town’s highway equipment — including graders, backhoes and excavators — has been stored outside, increasing maintenance costs.
