BURKE — The Select Board on Monday formally approved an ordinance that opens nearly six miles of town-maintained roads west of Route 5 to all-terrain vehicle traffic. The board voted 3-0 in favor of the measure during its June 2 meeting. The ordinance, which was modeled after a similar policy in neighboring Sutton, takes effect 60 days after approval. A local ATV group will be responsible for purchasing and installing required road signage, including speed limit markers. The new ordinance allows ATV access on select roads in West Burke, an area described by Town Administrator Jim Sullivan as largely agricultural and already accustomed to some ATV use
