MONTPELIER, Vt. – The Departments of Motor Vehicles in both Vermont and New Hampshire are warning the public as a text message scam asking people for money ramps up. Officials say the texts claim to be a “final notice” about an unpaid traffic violation, and even threaten to take your driver’s license. The DMV says they do not send any texts or emails demanding payment, those are only sent by mail. If you get a text that claims to be from the DMV, don’t click on any links or provide any personal information.
