MORRISTOWN, Vt. (WCAX) – Police in Morristown say a welfare check Wednesday turned into a suspicious death investigation. Police say they responded around 6:30 a.m. to 813 Elmore Street to check on Richard Cote, 76, but that when they arrived, officers found him dead in his home. Investigators say the death is considered suspicious. Cote’s body was sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. Police say this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
